Next week due to rehearsals in the church on Wednesday we will do OWL on Tuesday morning. Please ensure that everyone brings in a pair of wellies to live at school. This is so important as we will not always be attending OWL on set days and as the weather changes the children will need them for outdoor learning at school. Matalan and Next both sell them fairly cheaply.
Don’t forget INSET on Monday 30th so no school until Tuesday 1st!
After our phonic sessions with a few parents last week I have added a few games to consolidate last weeks learning. Enjoy!
Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3
This week we have been learning all about how to be a good friend.
We begun by making a Gingerbread heart for our talk partner and decorating it especially for them. Susie Oates was given the VERY important responsibility of keeping them all safe until it was time to eat them during OWL. Thank you! To build up an appetite the children kindly made gorgeous leaf necklaces and crowns for each other. After giving them to a friend (which in some cases was hard to do. Giving up something you have worked so hard on is a very impressive thing to do!) we bought them back to school and have hung them on our friendship tree. You’ll be pleased to know Sparkles joined us again this week and the children enjoyed watching her fish in the stream! A deer even dropped by and a few of the children caught a glimpse of it!
They all felt really lucky to have such lovely friends as each child handed their talk partner the biscuits they had made. They were very proud and grateful at snack time. Big well done to everyone this week…..Great team work 🙂
What a great morning! After making our vegetable soup at school we looked at other stories about soup and decided to make Stone soup during this weeks OWL. We wrote a list of all the things we needed to find to make a delicious seasonal soup and then found the ingredients. Ummmm….Turns out when you put all the ingredients together and stir it 10 times in ones or tens it means you can make a special wish! 😉 We all had some of our vegetable soup before heading back to school. Johnathan Blair very kindly helped transport soup and joined us for the morning, a friendly moth was particularly interested in our blue suits and Rex’s cat Sparkles even came to join us too!
First the stone…
What do we need next?…
A good stirring stick!
Final check we’ve remembered everything….
